My cooler mashtun is just about finished. Looking forward to my first AG beer :D

I'm going to brew that 60 Minute IPA clone that was posted a few pages back.
Just cracked version 2.0 of this.
Still slightly undercarbed, but the flavour is awesome!

Hey Guys,

I started with brewing 3 weeks ago. I'm enjoying it so far. Brewed my 2nd batch this weekend which I will dry hop later (I'm still on extract brewing).
I just want to know, is All grain brewing more cost effective than extract? I know it depends on which grains etc you use..but in general. Which one works out cheaper? (excluding the required equipment)

Thanks!

All grain should be cheaper.

Although, in this country especially, the biggest contributor to cost are the hops used.

Much cheaper. All in we come in at around anything from R3.50 - R7 per litre

You could make a AG SMaSH for about R150 ...
5Kg 2-row @ R15/kg + 100g-150g hops @ ±R60/100 = R135-R165 ... (This makes for a nice "lawnmower" type beer which I enjoy in summer)

Awesome, thnx for the feedback.
I'll definitely invest in all-grain brewing equipment in the next couple of weeks. I'm a huge lover of craft beers, but my wallet hates me for it.
I'll rather make my own :)

Ah, the old "home brewing will save me money" approach.
A lie I'm still telling myself, one year later... :D
