Good Day
I have a solar geyser on my unit (evacuated pipe system on the roof), in a sectional title and I want to find out how, and if it should affect the home insurance, thus the levy. I've heard that with geysers on top of the roof the risk is lower because if it bursts it doesn't mess up the house as much as a geyser in a ceiling does. Can anyone advise on this?

Regards
James

Definitely mention it to your insurance company / broker as the glass tubes are an added risk with hail. I have two of these am charged a massive R12 extra every month. Just feels better that the wording specifically states the glass tubes of my geysers and not having to worry when a very dark cloud appears on the horizon.

The odds of hail damaging your borosilicate tubes is probably not worth R12...

Did it because i had a massive hail storm the size of golf balls coming down, still have dents in my one carport to proof, insurance paid out R2700 for glass damage. Luckily (for the insurance company) this was 1 year before i went solar in 2008.

It's always best to advise and specify that you have a solar geyser and a gas installation.
