I signed up a lease until end on December 2025, I have a feeling the owner was not aware as he originally asked if I can move end of this month but he is ok with end of October, upon reminding him that the lease is until end of 2025 he said something about initial rental term of 12 months, it kinda feels like he wasn't aware its a 2 years agreement.I reviewed the contract and date to hand the keys is end of 2025.
so not too sure what to do...I don't really want to fight him but I don't really want to move either, end of September is also ridiculous and will never happen.
Does he have a point about the initial 12 month terms?
I also have a tenet and I wouldn't dream of kicking him out before the end of the contract.

Surely there is an early cancelation clause most contracts have it

He can cancel with enough notice, as can you. Two months sounds like fair notice to me.

for any reason, whether on the landlord or tenant’s part, the lease is to be cancelled once the property is taken over by the new owner, it must be by mutual consent

Emphasis on mutual consent

What stands in your lease?

If nothing is specified then the lease stands as it is. And it is then your choice if you want to assist with a mutual cancellation or not. If this isn't a hill you want to die on, perhaps offer the landlord that you want to stay a month for free while you look for another property or that the landlord can cover your moving and admin cost to find a new place.

Let him pay for the relocation and move out ,unfair ,yes ,it happens .

Yeah, if you want to be nice, let him pay all your relocation costs (including guys to pack and unpack boxes) and move.

There's nothing unreasonable about seeing out your contract. If you don't want to move, don't.

Edit: all, and by all I mean ALL, the law is on your side in this.

Ok,got lawyer to review the contract so let's see, but I'll only move to a same type place or better and he of course will have to cover the costs.
I don't understand him also, we paying him a very nice rant and we are good tenants, he can definitely find something else.

Don't feel bad playing hardball on this. It's not your responsibility to solve the new owner's problems.
