wife has a 07 1.4i and it averages around 6-6.5L/100km and she does city driving
very economical cars and im sure the 1.3 would be the same
maintenance ...i just got quoted R1500 for a service and to change the fuel filter around R1k more

Can't go wrong, I've owned an 07 1.4 and an 08 1.5 VTEC. They are quite fuel efficient, extremely reliable and reasonable to maintain.
Only thing that ever "broke" on any of them was the gearbox mount on the 1.5 (7 speed CVT Auto). It cost around R1.6k to replace. Car was mobile but it made a helluva vibration. I think I was the cause as I drove it like I stole it (was late for a meeting).
