Horizon View/Horison - Roodepoort - Johannesburg - anybody from here?

Enquirying on behalf of a friend who is not from SA. He may have opportunity to work in Roodepoort area. I see rentals in this area are approximately 5-6K for 2 bed apartment, which suits his budget. I would appreciate any feedback from people that have visited this area and/or lived/living here please? Thanks in advance.

Horizon View is a pretty decent area. Very accessible to major traffic routes, and generally a quiet area.

I used to drive through and study in the area quite frequently, as well as shop at the malls around there (Westgate and Princess Crossing) and found it to be one of the more decent areas, in the same vein as mos of the suburbs running along the western part of Ontdekkers Road.

Hopefully current residents can further detail the safety of the area.

I live nearby its a good area. Beware of traffic in some places though being a bit of a pain.

He can try staying in areas like range view as well

It is expensive there and its a mission in the mornings and afternoons with trafffic.

You have quite a few options in all directions. You can look as far as randpark ridge or sundowner as well
There are back roads to constantia that are easy to get to.
