Horrible Telkom/8ta experience

I used to wonder why telkom/8ta is nose diving. now i know. Apart from the administrative issues and leadership challenges, the foot soldiers on ground are either ill trained or terribly ignorant about what they should do and how they should do it. At this rate, this company will continue on free-fall until it crashes.

I had applied for the business 15 gb mobile data in December from the cresta store. I was told credit vetting will take 2 - 4 days and that they will get back to me. I went there after about 5 days. the so called back office had still not responded. i observed that the individual who dealt with me was not too knowledgeable about the product so i decided to call their call center to apply. its been almost 4 weeks since i applied at the cresta office there has been no response.

The call center experience was even worst! A guy by the name Samuel attended to me. I filled every form, sent to him, called him and he acknowledged that all was in order and he will send to their back office for credit vetting. He assured that he will get back to me within 48 hours. This was in December 28th, 2012. He did not get back to me. I have called these guys virtually everyday and everyone i spoke to was not in a position to help. Because a particular guy processed my forms, he must be the one to respond, they will get him to call him.

Samuel did not call. He was either on lunch, i called when he had knocked off or was not just available until i got hold of him last week Thursday.

He told me the back office staff who supposed to process the credit vetting was on leave. Imagine a single staff holding customers to random, i am so sure that i would not have been the only one! He then told me another staff had been assigned to vet, asked me for all the documents i had submitted earlier again with two more documents as some document were missing from the last submission and told me that he will get back to me in the next 48 hours.

There was no call. I called again and there was a fresh story! The staff who should do the credit vetting and a manager were on leave until the 2nd of Feb so he cannot do anything until then.

Contradicting stories! We cannot imagine how many customers that have been lost as a result of this level if incompetence in the last one month! While they have some good mobile deals with great pricing, the service of delivering it to the end user is rather poor and horrible. Having the products and not been able to deliver it is as good as not having it at all!

The product in question, 15gb mobile data for business is only R 250 which i can more than afford. I will rather take my money else where since they have shown that they are undeserving of it!

I wouldn't say 8ta is "nosediving" from having a bad experience by yourself. I love 8ta's network, its reliable, fast & I don't ever contact them & they never contact me. We have an awesome relationship.

Also had a positive experience with 8ta and Internet 5 promo contract. They could not find any funds in my bank account at one stage in 2012 and the services was discnnected after three months. Then I contacted them to make arrangements to reconnect my service, which they did after I have paid in the outstanding money which was for the three months. However when they have checked their systems after I phoned them the fourth month after making another monthly payment, they picked up that their billing system have actually deducted the money from my bank account during those three months and that after the fourth additional payment that I made they would put it in their billing system that my account is paid up for the next four months and they have kept their promise. :)

Every company makes mistakes and billing systems are not all perfect but I love a company that is willing to correct their mistakes.

Thanks for the response. I have used the prepaid data sim and it worked fine for me, thus my reason for opting for the 15 gb bundle as it serves me better. However should it take 6 weeks to get a response from their cresta sale office or one whole month to even get a response from their customer service center.

All i want is a yes or a no simple!
