Horrid Speeds + Disconnects in PTA

Hey guys ...

Have any of you had seriously poor performance and a ton of disconnects since that last major storm in PTA ?

I am in Villieria and have pings of over 300ms and have constant disconnects ...

I had similar issues last year.... and I suspect you've got the same problems.... the cables (somewhere between you and the exchange) got wet.

Speedtest.net is still reporting pings over 300ms


I am sorry that this may sound like a mega rant and I know that other people have had or do have absolutely epic connections ... ... But the fact that I am battling to browse and cannot game even if I wanted to is pathetic.

I have a big A** antenna from poiynting and have a steady reception ... yet can't browse while my brother in law in JHB is currently getting 5mbps according to speedtest and his dad is getting 7mbps...

Why is there such a huge variation in performance, surely PTA is considered a decent enough sized town to warrant more towers/better service ?



Just to post this msg ... I have had to refresh the page 17 times ... ... And the worst part is I am paying for this pathetic service every month ...

Also in Villieria and my line has been acting up. I've had a couple of port resets done which resolved problems for a few days and it seems to be working fine again now, but since Saturday I've been experiencing disconnects quite frequently.

It sounds like Messugga might be referring to ADSL, and not a 8ta connection?

It's "good" to know there are other people experiencing this, it proves I am not imagining things ... haha ...


It would be nice if we could get a telkom rep to come and comment on how they plan to address this issue
