I saw a "light" bus crash happen in Newcastle on monday, could have been much worse, thankfully it wasnt.

I was driving in the upper 70's on a 70km/h road (N11 i think) as you come into town. This bus came past me, doing at least 90 to a 100. It was just a plain white bus filled up full with black passengers. I was thinking, "I wish there was a number I could call, this driver is a accident waiting to happen".

There was a set of robots that were red and the bus couldn't stop all the way in the distance he tried too (being so heavy). He drove squarely into the back of a taxi, which pushed the grey RunX in front of it which was pushed forward at an angle and dmaged the red golf at the front and a green 3series Jetta that was in the turn right lane.

Luckily there wasnt any injuries except a bit of shock. And luckily i was in the slower lane...

EDIT: Driver of bus was white...

Story was on the news bulletin, apparently the idiot fell asleep at the wheel.

Thats actually very easy to do, and i think most of the "lost control single vehicle" accidents that arent alcohol related is due to this.

Well one of the passengers being interviewed said that they swapped drivers at Harrismith, the accident happened in Maritzburg. That's not a very long distance for somebody who is supposed to be a fresh driver. He's being charged with culpable homicide (I think one charge for each dead passenger) which I think is deserved, hope he enjoys his jail time.

well, the montonious humming of the bus and the road, not having someone to talk too, its real easy even when well rested, even in bright sunlight, i feel it pulling at me sometimes too and take what preventative measures i can...

Bottom line ... you have to take responsibility for your actions.

10 years ago I had to get up to Messina quickly I hopped in my car (then a modified 325i) ... to cut a long story short I was approx. 50 Kms North of Pietersberg and pulling roughly 230-250khp when I saw a shadow (it was now 01h00) ... I started braking (the shadow seemed to freeze) ... the car started to slew ... I counter-steered ... the next few seconds were hell, I kept expecting to hit a person. I hit nothing, but it didn't stop me from investigating the highway in both directions for about 200m (a very lonely experience).

From Beaufort-West until Colesberg - beautiful route and excellent road (N1) to drive on - a bit tiresome when I drove this route in daylight.

Was a real struggle from Colesberg to Bloemfontein - IIRC passed Beaufort-West at 1000 and made Bloem at 1745.

Happy Holidays :)
