i have 5 dogs now 2 medium ones 2 small ones and 1 big one,the 2 medium dogs did not seem to be bothered by the fireworks the one big dog we have was very scared and tried everything to get into the hous eventually i got stuck in a window and we had to cut him loose from the burglar bars he slept in the house that night and left 5 nasty surprises,1 of my 2 small dogs was also scared he stayed in the house we always keep him inside,we couldn't find him but later found him under the wendy house outside it was a lot of trouble to get him out,so yes i say ban fireworks.

Amazing how animals are so scared of bangs. My dog is **** scared of thunder. It just has get overcast at he starts acting up. A small distant rumble and he's shacking so much he can hardly stand. In fact it's so pathetic that this time of year you can't leave him alone. Leave the house and he screams blue murder.

Now how does evolution or the creationist theory explain this phenomena I wonder?

Well their hearing is something like 10 times better than ours so a bang to you is the end of the world to them

True. But you'd think they'd evolved enough to realize thunder is not a threat to their lives. Imagine every time there is a storm going through that :(

How does God? Thunder prompts similar reactions. But the evolution argument couldn't stand as dogs have been interbred by humans to such an extent that none of the breeding lines would be long enough for it to have made any significant impact. Also, evolution wouldn't overcome their fears, which is what this is.

Anyways, back on topic...

I understand about the culture thing but they always do it during like almost every week :(

They have got a house in a suburb and they converted it into like some prayer place-my friend who lives down the road are next door neighbors and they built long drop toilets because women are not worthy or something:eek: luckly he phoned the municipality and they took that down but they still have like 100 people coming their and making noise etc its not right  like imagine during the week your neighbor is having a house party-i would not mind if peeps are having a random party but it is every week and they come on the bus load-seriously :(

and yes they light fire works which disrupt all the animals:mad:

This does not sounds like a Hindu 'prayer place'.

I'm not sure where the long-drop story for women comes from... many Hindu goddesses are of female form. Hindu women are not repelled to the back waters of society.

In a temple, its patrons are requested to be quiet. It is a place of peace, not a party.

The festival of Diwali comes once a year. There is sometimes a misalignment of the north and south Indian calendars and the different groups have Diwali on, at-most, two successive days. There is no reason for fireworks any other time and the constant use you refer to should be reported.

Back on topic, I agree that fireworks should be banned from residential areas and its use regulated. It's always much better going to a fireworks event run by professionals rather than watching your neighbour's 100 shot roman candle :p and my dog gets to sleep better.

I am all for banning fireworks nationwide, except in licensed controlled demonstrations.

Correct me if I'm wrong about Diwali, but its translated as the "Festival of Lights" no? So could someone please explain to me wtf the big loud bangs have to do with that?

Neither of my dogs go mad thankfully because they seem to have been born in the right time of the year (its a weird thing I've noticed, if a dog is born during the stormy season, they're usually ok with loud noises like that, if not well then they turn into a complete mess).

You are correct. These little bombs that just go "bang" are a nuisance and very dangerous.

I must say though, even the ones that light up the sky made quiet a big noise. Even more reason to have a dedicated event for the whole community run by licensed professionals.

The next fscker that I see firing a firework in my suburb is going to get a grenade lobbed over his fence.

Let's see what they think of loud bangs.

Thankfully, it rained most of new years this year, so the noise was quite minimal.

Ban the crap.
