I'm also having an issue on HSDPA. I can't login to MSN at all. Getting all sorts of different error messages. It was working perfectly last night. Is there an issue on Vodacoms network in regards to those servers?

On HSDPA too, and local browsing seems fine, but there is definately a problem with international connectivity... Can't access anything internationaly without a gateway timeout

Please post a link to a screenshot of the actual error displayed in your browser|application. Also, which APN are you using?

A gateway timeout could be as a result of the dynamically assigned IP address that you're using, being on a spam-block list - some sites check the IP addresses of their visitors against spam block databases, and if the IP address you're using is listed as a source of spamming [or other unwanted activity, e.g. DoS attack], then the server will reject you with a gateway timeout...

Workaround: disconnect, wait a minute or so, then reconnect - hopefully you get a new dynamically assigned IP address that isn't spam-block listed...

I am getting the same issues, same error message. No connectivity international. Using HSDPA, and wireless router. Got HSDPA signal fine and can surf locally fine, as soons you go international it fscks up!
Using internet APN, location Houtbay.
It worked fine till 19:25

Utter BS!!. At this rate I can just as well give this POS back. Only using it over Wednesdays and it never bloody work!!

I know SAIX has an international link failure since this morning already to the US. So this is fine. I have been on ADSL for most of the day without even noticiing the failure and now after using HSDPA for 10 minutes it is worthless.

WTF FFS!!

Started working again, on internet apn.
Played around with the APN selection method on the wireless router, between manual and custom and using internet as the APN name.

Still comes and goes but at least I can do something now :(

Sounds like there are 2 different problems here:
  1. GATEWAY_TIMEOUT: which could be due to spam block listing of IP addresses - see below if you're using the 'internet' APN or you have never changed your APN and don't know which APN you're using.

If you're getting a GATEWAY_FAILURE trying to access one or more international sites, please could you go to http://backup.dnsstuff.com/ and see what it says your Proxy IP or IP address is, copy that IP address, and paste it into the "Spam database lookup" form field, then hit enter, wait for the query to complete, then scroll down and look for any rows that are yellow or red - if you find any, then copy the relevant lines and paste into a p.m. & send to ic as well as vodacom3g.
    .
  2. Upstream SAIX international circuit failure of some sort.
