Hi everyone,

Those of you who are regular followers of the latest news on Mybb shouldn't find this to be a huge surprise,
But do you all realise how badly we are ripped off with mobile prepaid data and/or airtime?
I'm curently on holiday in Sri Lanka, and I am using a local prepaid SIM card for the duration of my stay here, and this is what I pay for data from a leading service provider here:
1. For 99 Sri Lankan rupees, which is roughly R10,00, I get 600mb of any time data, valid for a month.
2. For 1499 Rupees (R150) I get 5gigs of daytime data, 50gigs of night data, valid for 30 days.

Vodacom, MTN, Cell C, Virgin Mobile and all the newcomers, you should be ashamed of yourselves for what you make South Africans fork out for data and airtime.

I've just read you post and I just cannot believe what I've read.

Why would anyone ever go to Sri Lanka for holiday?

India was as cheap as Sri Lanka, though the market is very fragmented so often a SIM bought in one state won't work in another.

I could very well ask you why would you want to stay in that dump you're currently residing in?

They will come up with 1 million excuses, but the fact is their upper management have high personal lifestyle needs that need funding.

Yes, I was very impressed with MTC on a trip last year.

Amazing coverage considering the size of the country.

2G just about everywhere, Whatsapp worked in many desolate places, I was amazed.

My Namibian contract is N$399 I get something like 600 minutes 600mb data etc

And then LTE modem at house is N$700 50Gb or 90Gb iirc and after that the line gets limited to 1Mbps.
