How Bolt plans to beat Uber in South Africa

Doubtful...

Bolt drivers are 10x more dodgy than Uber drivers on average it seems, and the cars are a bit sketchier as well....
Correct they cancel the trips and phone afterwards to do the trip off the app. I only use uber now.

Hard to quantify, but only with Bolt have I had drivers stop for petrol, phone to ask what my trip was and then stall, telling me to cancel, and another decided to pick up his wife on the trip.

Bolt customer care is as useless as Uber. I sometimes wonder if they have people responding to emails or just AI.

So many low opinions here, it makes me wonder why I've been so fortunate with my Bolt experiences.

They're consistently less expensive than Uber, send me usable promos nearly every week, and the rides always get a good rating. Maybe it's just my area...?

This has been my experience as well except for my last 2 rides where the cars were so good for a moment I thought I had requested an Uber. I think from now on I will rate the shitty cars as shitty cars.

I have the same experience, I use Bolt over Uber anyday

I once had a drunk driver try to give me a ride back when it was still called Taxify. Since then wont ever use them again

Does the Bolt app allow you to add a tip? I stopped using Bolt when I paid with my card and found no way of tipping. Driver asked for a cash tip and I had no money. Scary, I only use Uber since then.

Anyone else thought for a moment, how the hell is one man going to take on a whole industry & expects to beat them nogal?

Mr Bolt may be fast, but that fast?

Good question.

I read this recently and it appears that Taxify is not that new to the game. Uber may yet be it's own worst enemy, and give these guys the opportunities they want.

Had a similar experience. Pretoria area and use Bolt most of the time. The price is cheaper. The service is not amazing but neither has my multiple bad experiences with Uber customer service and drivers.

UberEats I havent had a problem with except their prices are inflated much more than MrD.
I know the real price from the restaurant menu. Uber is the worst in terms of bumping up the price of the food items. We are excluding delivery cost here.
For my area MrD is R5 and UberEats R15 for delivery for even more of a reason to support them.

I think both Uber and Bolt have stopped standards considerably vs when they started in SA. Just the other day I wouldn't even get into the Uber as the car was so run down it wouldn't have passed a roadworthy no matter how many bribes were passed. Guy was so pissed as I waved him off.

Bingo, no matter which one you use you are likely to run into issues sooner or later

I've had such a bad experience with MrD Food that I would gladly pay double whatever they are charging for food to use UberEats, which has been the most pleasant experience in the last year or so I've been using them. MrD would constantly get the wrong address, then their driver tells me he is at the right place and I am wrong, the food being cold, orders placed but vanished into thin air.

I'd much rather keep using UberEats with which I've only had one problem which was resolved within the hour

I only use bolt, way cheaper than Uber and the wait times much much less. With Uber the app says the driver is 5 minutes away then it changes to 10 minutes and that is frustrating.
