How can fibre connection suddenly die?

This morning our fibre was working. It died around midday and CI say it's a Vumatel trenched line fault. None of our neighbours have a problem and it's not maintenance. Any Ideas what could have happened?

Did your have somebody work in your garden today?

.... that was a guess right???

:ROFL::ROFL::ROFL::ROFL: got a gardener in for the day but he denies going anywhere near the fibre. It's in a conduit so I thought I'd notice if he'd done any damage.

If he did it we got 2 for the price of 1 because he managed to disconnect the gate sensor from the security system. Can't arm that zone so he probably put the spade through a wire. He's not called demolition man for nothing.

Agree, sounds like you got some physical damage somewhere on your line. Check your flylead hasn't unplugged itself...

Tks @sand_man. Checked, all seems fine. Will trace the cable tomorrow morning looking for signs of damage. I'll also post a pic of the connection on the pavement.

The conduit looks good all the way.

Does fibre have a switch or something at an exchange like the old

Here's a pic of the box outside:

It always amazes me when I see the installers putting in fiber or any sort of cable these days they put it just under the ground where anything can harm it. put it 1 meter down then no problems but no that means paying more labour.

It's been fixed :D

Stunning service from Vumatel and Cool Ideas who seem to have fixed it remotely because I haven't seen a Vumatel car. When I hear what broke I'll update here. Thanks for your input guys, appreciate it.

Sounds like a port issue if they resolved it remotely. These things can happen if an item fails.

Didn't know it could happen.

Just received notification the ticket has been closed. I believe you're right because it says the fault was POP at distribution box.

Coincidence that it happened when demolition man worked in the garden.
