Im about to do this for myself, can you guys comment on your experience? What exactly do I need to submit?
I qualify by way of ancestry on my dad's side. I have his original birth certificate and I have unabridged marriage certificate of my parents. I recall attempting before but getting stuck on a form that asked for dates that my parents became naturalised SA citizens or first arrived for permanent residence here - its possible that was the form for dual citizenship which i wont likely be filling this time around.
What are the implications for my wife and kids? Do I apply for passports for them too?
What are the implications for my ability to vote? Afaik I have to give up citizenship as dual citizenship is no longer allowed?
Ta in advance!
I really don't have an idea of how the ancestry visa works, best is to go through the notes on the government site, but with me all I gave was (mom was born in the UK)
Everything i gave was :
My RSA passport (dunno if this was applicable but gave it anyway)
Mom's original birth certificate
Unabrideged birth certificate
Passport photos, which had to be signed from someone with a UK passport or an EU national confirming it is me and also signing all the documents that I had filled in
Copy of my ID certified by the police
And unfortunately everything has to be original documents as they do not accept physical applications anymore, I didn't even tell my mom I had taken her birth certificate haha, else she would be in a panic knowing i I couriered everything, so I guess if everything doesn't come back I'll worry and panic about then, but ill give an update if I got everything.
