Man reportedly dies while waiting to update Eskom prepaid meter [VIDEO] | The Citizen
The deadline for prepaid electricity users to upgrade their meters is on Sunday, 24 November.

yea I have one of those. Can confirm neither the #005# nor the fat long code works on it.The following two codes apparently don't work on the very old Conlog E-kard meters:
1) 1844 6744 0738 4377 2416
2) #005#
Spoke to someone that swaps out the meters and they explained that codes were printed on the prepaid slips to enter in 2023 for these old meters

Eskom provides a step-by-step guide on updating prepaid electricity meters on its KRN dashboard.Just quickly want to find out, we typed in to check our pre paid meter and it only reflects 0.2 on the screen. We put in the pre paid meter only 3 years ago. Does it mean it is coded?
He forgot to recharge![]()

We did type in this number and it only reflects 0.2. I presume than that it is coded?Eskom provides a step-by-step guide on updating prepaid electricity meters on its KRN dashboard.
The first step is determining whether your meter has already been recoded.
Enter the code 1844 6744 0738 4377 2416 on their prepaid electricity meter’s keypad to view its status.
The screen will display the number 1 or 2, and in some cases, it may also display letters alongside the KRN number.
If the meter displays the number 1, it is still on KRN 1 and must be recoded to KRN 2.
To recode the meter, Eskom provided the following procedure:
Get your two key change tokens from your local or online vendor
Enter the first 20-digit recode token and wait for it to be accepted
Enter the second 20-digit recode token and wait for it to be accepted
Enter the 20 digits of your electricity voucher to recharge on KRN version 2
I'm also getting the same on a Hexing meter. We did type in this number and it only reflects 0.2. I presume than that it is coded?

we are with Tshwane.Eskom?
Here you go, looks like 02 or 0.2 is fine, the decimal could not mean anything, those meters are not exactly smart to write what they want to say.we are with Tshwane.
Your meter will be fine.Fck me. I knew this would be a clusterfck. I did the 3 codes thing in May already. Meter accepted all 3 codes. Havent thought anything of this situation since. So got a notification from Capitec now with a code you can input to check meter KRN. It said its for Eskom meters but I input it into my municipal meter for shts and giggles. Low and behold my meter says KRN 1. Try calling Centlec (Bloemfontein p03s version of City Power). No answer. Check their facebook and website and see there is a statement indicating that meter numbers starting with 135 and 371 showing KRN 1 need not worry if they bought electricity since 31 May. I have bought a couple times including right now for good measure and my meter number starts with 135.
I fully expect my meter to be bricked or whatever consequence there is for KRN1 on Sunday. Fcking p03s banana republic. To add insult to injury, my pre-paid water meter is already bricked because the municipality decided to do the same key revision thing with the prepaid water meters only informing rate payers who follow them on facebook and read the newspapers of procedures to follow to update water meters. Ive already missed the deadline. None of the municipal numbers of course work here. DA ward councillor also of FCKALL use. Thank fck I have borehole and solar.
Solar. Basically off grid. They can come and collect this meter for all I care. More afraid of the implication or accusation that I am an electricity thief because KRN 1. I use like 1kwh per day and still have about 230kwh left on the meter.Your meter will be fine.
I just hope you have enough credit in the meter to buy enough time resolve the issue before you have to top up again.
