How can I check my MTN data balance on the SGT-P7500? The MTN Active website is useless. A way to use USSD codes or SMS?

This is what happens when one comes off a BB BIS contract where data did not matter. :)

Is there a SMS way to do this?

USSD code apps don't work on Honeycomb. USSD checker works great on my SGS2 but is incompatible with Honeycomb. Honeycomb = FAIL. On iPad one can still use all iPhone apps. Not so with Android.

*141# should work.

However, I have a counter question.

How do I check my data bundle balance on my modem? I am with Autopage.

It seems the only way is to either call them (and spend 15 minutes waiting for someone who can't tell the balance or to whom the system fails and you have to call again) or move your sim from modem to cell phone then dial *141#.

I would really appreciate an answer.

Don't ask me why I am with Autopage.

I still have no solution. Vodacom is WAY WAY WAAAAAAYYYYY better when it comes to these things. MTN Active self service is a pathetic effort that hasn't been updated in ages and no USSD CODE app works on the tablet. I have a tablet with a 2GB/m data allocation from MTN and I cannot track my data usage on the tablet. Not even a rep here to help anymore.

did anyone find a solution to this? I'm in the same boat

Nope. Not even my contacts in MTN can help me. 3G Data counters are also not reporting data usage correctly on the P7500 so we are stuffed. Pathetic. MTN is so useless there are no words to describe it. Vodacom helped me to exchange my Newton Ring affected P7500 given to me by MTN on an MTN contract!

mmmm

Stuck with the same issue and have tried all the mentioned 'solutions' without any success.
How about we get a petition together from all the users experiencing hassles with this and send it to MTN?
Whether anything will happen I have no idea but hell it's frustrating that such simple functionality is not available...?

You can dial 808 from any mtn cellphone check balance. When asked for cell no, change to the number of the sim in your tab. Then check balances. Don't need to take
out sim... Only way for now.

If anyone found an app to correctly monitor 3G data for the s.s.g.t 10.1, please let us know.

In the meantime I also use mtn's website (https://www.mtn.co.za/MyMTN/MyInternetAccount/Pages/default.aspx) to check my usage on my pc.

Annoyingly, if you visit this site on your tab, you get re-directly to the worlds most annoying site "MTN play". To avoid the redirect, do the following on your tab:
-install firefox (mobile) on your tab
-in firefox, search for add-on's and install "Phony"
-now, in firefox's settings, change the "User Agent" setting to "Internet Explorer"

Firefox Mobile will report itself to the MTN website as a normal I.E browser, letting you access the link above and check your bundle, without the forced redirection to MTN play!

There may be other simpler ways to set the "user agent" of the built-in browser, or other 3rd party browsers, but this was the first and only option I bothered to tried.

Easier to Install dolphin browser and under settings go to useragen and choose desktop or on the default browser, type in about:debug press enter then go to settings you should notice a few extra options look for UAstring click on that and choose desktop

This whole situation is such a disgrace. How can MTN sell a product with a dataplan but the user cannot get accurate up to date data usage stats?how can they get away with this? I've tried to get this sorted but there is just no-one in MTN who gives a ****. Unbelievable.

How to check MTN data bundle on Android

Download MTNZA Keypad from Google Play store. You can check balances and purchase bundles.
