I remember a reputable news article in the early 80's that said that 50% of all white families back then had some form of incest going on.. So ja today's sicko's are basically a result of that era

And I remember someone once saying that 78.53967% of statistics are made up on the spot ;)

You can't deny the fact that the internet and services like Mxit make it much easier for anonymous people to make contact with children. In the past a pervert would have to physically follow a girl now he can cast out a net and
snag them in, sooner or later - depending on how good he or she is, they will
find a child - all the while remaining anonymous.

They will always find a way. They will become schoolteachers or get a job near a school or become a priest or a sports teacher or whatever.

Even today, with the all our technology, it is well known that
30-40% of victims are abused by a family member, 50% are abused by someone outside of the family but whom they know and trust
Therefore, only 10% are abused by strangers.

The problem with the internet is that it's made it easier for abusers to link up with each other, support and encourage each other, swop pictures and have easy access to pictures etc. In the past a pedophile would maybe have had no one to talk to and would feel isolated. He/She would know what they were doing must be kept secret as it was wrong. These days he/she may feel they are ok cause there are so many others like them who support them and encourage them. In America there are groups that have formed calling for legaization of sex with minors and they operate publicly. This would never have happened without the internet.

I have no problem with mxit though. If your child is educated about sex and is able to talk to you without fear of reprimand there is no danger. As in this case the children told their parents exactly what was going on.
