How do App devs actually make money with the 70/30 rule?

Hi :)

Busy with an app for iOS and possibly Android(Amazon store) until... I saw the 70/30 rule. :wtf: is that about.
Does this same rule apply to Ad revenue or specifically In-App and App purchases?

Interested to hear what local guys say after trawling forums and seeing the good, bad and worse case situations with most of the stores.

I think its IAP and app purchases. AFAIK local publishers on the Play Store can't sell their apps.

Apple is rumoured to be allowing various subscription tiers to all apps. It will change revenue models quite a bit. That being said, only about 2% of apps make enough to sustain a full time business.

The 70/30 split in general is fine. The free hosting, advertising, not having to worry about distribution etc more than makes it worth it.

But I'm not sure about IAP etc. on iOS...I guess it depends on how you implement it.
