I am a newbie as I got my ps3 last weekend (YAY!!!), but I am struggling with connecting to the Playstation Network.

My internet connection works fine on the ps3 but I get a time out error when testing the connection or when I try to login. THe registeration went fine without any problems.

I have searched through many forums, but there are so many different opinions and configurations, that I have also tried, but still no luck.

Any advise on how to make it work?

My configuration is as follows:
Telkom MEGA 100WR modem
Connecting wireless to the modem with my PS3
I have disabled my firewall and tried to enable the DMZ, but nothing happened.

I have read alot about port forwarding, but don't really know what they are talking about.

Thanks in advance!!!

The quickest way of getting around this is to make the PS3 create its own PPPoE connection... This way the PS3 will not require the Mega105 to route a WAN connection to your PS3.

Enter your ISP username/password when configuring your connection. Leave all the other details as is i.e. automatically obtain IP etc.

Is your router setup as default, you didn't make any changes?

things to try:
1. Enable the router’s UPnP function
2. Is DHCP enabled on the router - is by default
3. Did you configure your PS3 to use DHCP?

I had trouble with wireless as well, it was interference due to walls, as well as the distance from my PS3 to the router. So I moved the router to a more central location, and already had a 20 metre network cable to that point which used to connect the PS3. no more problems :)

Wow thanks for the response guys.

@udiS3 - I tried this but still didn't work. Thanks though.

Mouse - Thanks, but I have the same problem when I plug the router into the PS3.

Now drum roll...to benitok. Thanks a lot man! After you asked if my router is on default settings I went and restored all the settings and scanned with the PS3 and bingo - everything is working. WOOHOO!

Thanks again guys!!! You all rock!!!
