How do I get Fibre when no companies offer fibre but cable is next to me?

According to the DFA coverage area,I have a live DFA fibre cable right outside my house, but not a single fibre company offers fibre in my area?
I don't get it, why would they even lay the cable in the road if they not offering the service?

There is an openserve box in the road, about 700 - 800m away from my house, but thats about it - so is there any way I can plead with anyone to get connected?

Any businesses in your area?

You'll prob find that the fibre is leased to the likes of MTN/Vodacom etc
Had the same issue and only when Vumatel and Telkom decided that we were worthy of getting fibre, did it become available

It may be flagged for commercial use. That's my situation. MTN fibre in front of my house, but zero access to it.

I worked for DFA about 10 years ago, 90% of their cables are rented to Vodacom/Mtn and generally connect one cell phone tower to another.

They had more fibre in the ground then Telkom at one point (not sure anymore) and had fibre down 75% of all streets in Gauteng so I'm not surprised you have DFA fibre outside your place.

DFA is a Tier 1 Operator that provides "dark" or unlit fibre within an open access network. It is up to a Tier 2 Operator, like Vumatel, Openserve, SADV, Octotel, etc to liaise with the property owners and propose a fibre network in the area. They build the network and connect to the closest DFA aggregation node in your area, which very well may be on your street.

In short, it is not DFA's responsibility to offer fibre, but for you to find a T2 provider that is willing to rollout a GPON/AON network in your area.

Thanks makes sense

I was in the same boat, had DFA run next to my house, I phones far and wide and eventually got to an ISP called Kibo Connect. They were willing to connect me up on some conditions, had to pay around 5k for the civil work to extend the cable to my premesis and then had to take out a business package which was around 3kpm at that time, I also needed to sign a 24 month contract. Obviously this was a bit too much for me even though I work from home and just declined.

Luckily Vuma is now busy installing in my street, so next month I will be online.

But it is definitely possible to hook into DFA via an ISP and a business package.

Same boat. I've got a DFA manhole less than 3 meters from my boundary wall. Live fibre providing service to a tower about 50 meters from me with the cable running under my driveway, as well as FTTH to a gated complex about 1km away, with the cable running next to another boundary wall. Live DFA fibre on 2 sides of my house, and I'm using pigeons to download files.

Same story for me. Runs right next to my house.
We got vumatel planning, but they want preorders before they start work on my area.

I have Grey boxes on two neighboring boundary walls but not my own walls... Can I get Fibre or do I need my own box... And why would this have happened?
