How do I manage video card settings on this laptop?

Got this laptop a few days ago - http://www8.hp.com/za/en/products/laptops/product-detail.html?oid=6823055#!tab=features with an Nvidia 740M 2BG card.

Problem is I don't appear to be able to manage the card settings in any way. Going to the Nvidia control panel only gives me 3D settings. No colour, video, or advanced settings at all. I can't even tell if the video card is actually being used. Now one of the reasons for buying a machine with a video card is that I can use the video card to manage dynamic contrast settings for video playback, which has been quite helpful in the past.

I have updated the Nvidia graphics driver. I've searched the net but can't find an answer. I've looked in the HD graphics settings but there's nothing there of much help. Does this new Optimus software really remove all ability to adjust settings on the video card almost entirely?

This. You can set the dedicated GFX card to do all the work but to change color settings and the rest you have to do that in the Intel HD settings as mentioned.

+1

The nvidia gpu is not connected to the display output and works via the intel igp, that's why the intel igp has to handle the colour settings, brightness etc.
