How can some ISP's supply the ADSL line rental and a 1 GB cap at less than the advertised line fee from telscum?

maybe this is more proof of telscum ripping us off?

Which ISP and offer are you referring to?

Does that offer include VAT?

Also bear in mind that Telkom's prices are coming down on the 1st of August...

And some ISPs advertise a price for the first 6 months of a 24 month contract, with very expensive rates for the next 18 months.

I was looking at a couple but the ones that stand out for me are MWEB and Webafrica. As to the price decrase i am just going on the currently advirtised prices... were does one get the new prices.

The whole thing just seemed odd to me

The prices the ISP's gave included vat and Webafrica says there is no setup fee you just need to have an existing telephone line... who pays for the upgrade?

New Telkom prices available at www.dobroadband.co.za

They let you do a self-install, so it costs absolutely nothing and they probably give you a free modem as well... (complain if they don't).

Please quote the prices, I for one am keen to see if maybe there is a misinterpretation of the age old Telkom line rental + 1 gig, etc.
AFAIK WA offer it as follows:
Bronze: 384k line and 1 Gig account at R199 per month. Special offer: first six months at R149 per month
With Telkom it's R199 per month and if you do a self install you get given the modem.
So the difference is that WA charge you R50 less per month x 6 = R300 less and charge R599 for the modem. Modem is free if you sign for 24 months.
