How do you connect XboX 360 to the net

What i want to know is do i need an adsl line to connect the Xbox 360 to the internet or does it come with a built in connection??

You can use an ethernet cable or buy a wifi adapter.

I am trying to get a wireless access point to work but I have not had much joy yet.

I just plugged in a lan cable on my hub and other end on my xbox, then go to the dashboard ->setup-> network settings and select manual connection, entered my pppoe settings and i connected to xbox live.

You need an ADSL router which is already connected to the net. If this router is wireless, then you need the wireless option for your Xbox, if your router has some available ethernet ports which are open, then you can just connect your Xbox straight to it with your ethernet cable. It will be the easiest if everything is setup with DHCP (router and Xbox), because then everything is done automatically. If not, then you have to go and configure the network settings for your own network on the Xbox.
