How do you define "Rich"

I'd say owning a house with no debt is enough to qualify as rich. The age at which you achieve this also affects things... but yah...

Anything over R40k after tax should be enough to put you there quite fast.

i would also like to add, that you are rich, when you are happy and healthy. I mean, nothing beats a happy family and hot girlfriend/wfie/fiancee or maybe all three :D

Its about R55-60k
I got about 72k from a 120k bonus:(
The majority of people work for their money.

When your money starts to work for you then you have entered another league.

The more money you have, the 'harder' your money works for you and the more you reap.
...
It makes you think, doesn't it?
I'd say that rich is when fuel prices, interest rates, Telkom and Eskom don't affect your lifestyle.
Doesn't affect mine, but I ain't rich.

Its simple, rich IMO is when you really dont have any huge liabilities (if any at all). Your proterty/ Mortgage/ Investments/ Education etc are all taken care of, so when about 50 - 75% of your salary goes to your savings then thats rich!

In 2004 there were 8.3 million dollar millionaires already, so the number is growing quickly.

The opposite of the scale is also true - there are a growing number of people that actually have nothing.

Further edit: according to this wikipedia entry, there were more than 9.5 million dollar millionaires in 2006, or 0.15% of the world's total population.

I'll bet that's changed significatnly since the credit crunch...

I think Chris Rock said it the best:

Micheal Jordan is rich
The guy writing his paycheck each month is wealthy

Also wealthy is the family that own the colour Blue

I'd say a net worth of R1mio (taking into account at least one house valued at R1mio and a car of at least R250k) and rising puts you in the rich bracket.
