but when they smile at you, it makes all the trouble worthwhile. hahah. shame. now we know why madonna and angelina are adopting kids, they have it all figured out, and we are actually the stupid ones, hahaha.

there is a teething powder that works very well too, called "something and something", get it from the pharmacy. Enjoy this stage, you will realise 2 things, one now and one later.
1, now is that you are an extremely selfish person and 2. later, just 2 years, you will forget the whole lot, all the screaming order of teeth coming out etc., seriously!

You sure it's called "something and something"? And not maybe Ashton & Parsons?

Might work better on them, but for baby it's useless. We tried it too.

Good suggestion, but how do you shoot her?

Was this a special occasion? Baptism? I cannot imagine you dress her so fancy everyday?

Sweet little thing :D

Watch out for the terrible twos. I thought people made that **** up until my nieces and nephews came around.

Remember. Sweet are evil. If you want to treat your children give them an apple or whatever. Chocolates should only be fed to teens+

You'll see what I'm talking about when your wife caves and gives your kid a sweetie. The eyes light up, and in some instances, your house as well...

We generally use Vidal and Calpol but the last three or four nights nothing seems to work.

It was another rough night last night.

Are you sure she's teething first of all? I don't want to sound patronizing - but it could be a number of things. We've been having this thing recently where our boy (nearly 8 months) wakes up crying a lot in the night, and we figured it was teething or illness or something. So we would just get up for him. But last night we decided that we had ruled out everything else and there wasn't anything else wrong so we shut the doors and barricaded ourselves - he cried for about 10 minutes loudly then stopped and went to sleep. This morning he was happy. We realized that we had just conditioned him to wanting his mum in the night even though there wasn't really anything very wrong with him.

But for actual teething (or for lots of things) there is one miracle remedy - Ponstan. That stuff is amazing. It's a bit stronger than your normal Panadol and whatever, but by golly it works.

Just put some brandy on the gums :) Works like a charm. Did it with both my kids and it did wonders. Same with ear pain. Take brandy put in a spoon, warm it up then light it. Once the alcohol has been burnt out let it cool down to room temp and pour it into the ear and put a piece of cotton in the ear.

Saved us plenty of long sleepless nights :)

Pouring warm, burnt out Klipdrift into a baby's ear does not sound good to me..... best not to recommend this to other n00b parents who might spill flaming Brandy into the baby's eyes by accident or something....

So very true.

And 10past8 brandy will never see my kids ears :D Klipdrift Gold or premium only :p

It really does work, but one needs to take care ;)

I have no doubt that it works. Morphine would probably also work a treat.

Our son is the same age. Since it's our first we can only assume it is teething. He is always chewing stuff and the creche recons it is teething too.

We have tried letting him go back to sleep but he just gets more and more hysterical until we do something.

As for the alcohol suggestion, the kid is going to have enough handicaps in life with me being his old man. We don't need to compound to his woes.

Are these his first teeth coming through? He's a bit late if so. Yeah it could be teething, our boy was difficult with his first ones. I think he had a bit of a fever. Let me ask my wife when I get home, she has a ton of experience with babies. Really, Ponstan is wonderful.

Oh also we got him this thing like a dummy with a net where the teet should be. You put in food like bananas and stuff. They love chewing on it and it doesn't get stuck in their throat.
