How do you use swipe typing on a phablet phone?

I have a LG G4 5.5" screen and Swiftkey and swipe typing doesn't seem feasible, you can't hold the phone in one hand and swipe with your thumb(can't easily reach the other side) which defeats the object, so I default to normal typing holding the phone with 2 hands and using both thumbs to tap type.

Is there any trick to using swipe typing on a phablet or way around this?

Just occurred to me that I've seen a setting somewhere that puts the keyboard closer to one side, perhaps that's a solution of sorts?

Should I rephrase the question, how do people with phones with big screens 5.5" and bigger type, swipe, tap?

I hold my phone in one hand and use index finger of the other to swipe. 5.5" screen.

Ok so index finger to swipe, not sure if that's much faster than tapping with 2 thumbs. It does work though.

I don't know if LG has a similar function but on the Samsung Note there is a gesture that reduces the screen size... i.e. it makes the swiping possible with one hand. So if i swipe my screen from the left edge to the right say 2-3cm then back to the left edge, it reduces my display and puts the display on the left hand side. If I swipe from the right edge, the display will align with the right edge.

Take a look at the gestures menu on your phone (if it exists). There might be a similar function?

Google keyboard... Since M$ bought Swiftkey I don't use it anymore. Google keyboard also supports Afrikaans swype now. No need for anything else.

So one handed mode makes the keyboard smaller and shifts it to the side you choose?

Yes. Came here to say enable one hand mode for either left or right handed use. It will scale the keyboard and place it on either the left or right of the screen for easy one handed operation.

you can also split the keyboard by dragging it to the sides. I also swipe with my index finger while holding my tablet with my left hand
