DStv top packages lose customers as MultiChoice raises prices

Despite losing customers, MultiChoice continues to raise the price of its high-end DStv packages every year.

Although it has reigned in the increases since 2018, relatively speaking, premium subscribers keep cancelling or downgrading. MultiChoice also recorded its first decline in mid-market DStv Compact and Commercial subscribers in 2022.

They had 2.3m premium subscribers on 31 March 2015. So that's dropped by at least a million (they've added other, cheaper packages to their premium count since).

MultiChoice CEO Calvin Mawela said the company plans to gain more viewers by focusing on locally produced content in the markets where it operates.
This guy lives in a dream world. No amount of locally produced content will increase viewership, it’s only the sport packages that keep subscribers there for now. That is changing fast though as online streaming of sports has become so much cheaper and diverse. MC has definitely got its monies worth by repeating just about every single type of programming on their platform. From Universal to History channel’s are on their umpteenth round of repeat airings. I think it’s only the News channels that are current.
Ditch the Thieves and move on. Will save you a fortune

Super sport holdings on its own could make a killing if they went the ESPN route.

I heard you can google "freestreams" (incognito) maybe it has something?
Edit: For sport they said??
