How far have you pushed your uncapped RAIN SIM?

I never get to over 200GB, even with my 2 kids visiting me on weekends, on YouTube and Netflix mostly.

Those are moderate speeds for most of the people here. Some hit about 60mbps down. Hopefully, it gets better for you in a different location
Would be an bonus! Coming from 12mbps down, 0,4 mbps up 39ms ping @ R1400pm I am in heaven

Just an update if you're interrested. Paid my order yesterday morning, got the sim delivered today and activated just before 17h00. My co-worker had a B315 lying around at home which he brought to work. Hooked it up without any additional antennas. Got 12mbps down and 15mbps up with a ping time of 19ms. If this is consistant it is a real bargain @ R250pm...

I'm curious as to your speeds this morning.

I also received my SIM yesterday - was getting around 20Mb/s down and 18Mb/s Up last night. It's crawling now though. Averaging 2Mb/s now, must be all the folks hopped on to the tower with everyone being at home today I guess

Won't be able to say..I use it at the business and we are not open today. As we are in an industrial park I don't think we will be affected that much by congestion as there is not many residential areas close by

I have been able to get a nice good changeover by using a mikrotik. Got 2 scripts that will automatically alternate between the two connections. It takes some time to setup but once its working its amazing, capped starts at 5:59pm and then uncapped starts at 11:01pm etc
port 1,2,5+WLan are bridged and port 3 is uncapped and port 4 is capped. Port 3,4 get a IP from their respective routers
Out of interest, which mikrotik are you using? I'm thinking of getting the hAP ac² to alternate between my service provider WAN and Rain - this would give me one device for both WANs and wifi coverage in my home. I think.. :)

If you're buying a device mikrotik is a good option. I managed to make it work using an oldish tp-link router so if you have a Wi-Fi router lying around maybe consider repurposing that

Using Open-WRT or the default router OS?

yeah, I need to buy a new one in any case, so just figuring out which would be better. I have some knowledge on mikrotik so going to try that

First month usage. Used by 5 people. I expect usage for June to drop considerably.

Thanks. Does it support aggregation on RAIN? Does it show 4G+? Otherwise there is no use for me over this against the B315..

Aggregation across bands 3 and 38 are only supported on the Huawei B2338 and B2388-168. No consumer LTE routers currently support Cat5 LTE, but the chipsets are available already. Just takes time for something to arrive locally. Until then, the best bet is using something which can switch from the 1800MHz to the 2600MHz band as required.

Guys, you seem clued up so let me ask you this. What (economical) 4g usb dongle can you recommend to me? I want to insert a RAIN sim into it, and plug it into my ASUS ac52u router.

Dongle-wise, you can buy the Huawei E3372, if you can find stock anywhere. It supports bands 3 and 38.

ROUTERS:

There's the Huawei E5885. Rain supplies them for R1540. Officially the chipset is Cat6 capable and will do aggregation, but it only supports band 3 locally, which means you're likely to run into congestion. Main benefit is the long battery backup.

For the same price there's the TP-Link Archer MR200, which supports bands 3 and 38.

The D-Link DWR-921 supports bands 3 and 38, and also fully supports OpenWRT.

At some point in time we'll also see the Huawei B525, which is a Cat5 LTE router with support for aggregation across bands 3 and 38. The US trade war may put a halt to this.
