That's rough man. I see some people here are critical, but really these are fairly easy traps to fall into if you do not have a handle on the ins and outs of personal computing in SA (or in some cases in general). Things like a grasp of the type of titles you can expect to play well on your PC. The cost of data. The amounts of data that is regularly involved these days. Etc.
Truth be told even I am often surprised by the size and regularity of updates and installs and I have a large ADSL cap and I use Steam so I should be used to it. And then I've built up experience with it. All I can say is that if you do not know much then one should plan on buying a bit more expensive (PC) - As in R10k-R15k at least to be up to contemporary mainstream specs for gamers - From a reputable retailer, and rather assume that you will need a decent ADSL line.
Oh and just assume that unchecked mobile data usage will come back to haunt you of course.
There are plenty of possible stumbling blocks for novices otherwise. I originally built my own PC and I have kept it up to date in incremental steps from there on (only the original case remains). This is something that costs me about R2k-R6k a year.
