U have to decide for yourself..

I have ADSL and iBurst and iBurst has a higher uptime. iBurst goes down for 1hr or 2 ... adsl goes down for days. Ping is better on ADSL, but speed is better on iBurst (at least for me)... its all for what u wanna use it for.

There is no better of the two evils ;-)

From a Soweto person point of view... Iburst has been good since April. However my work pc has ADSL and its been okay...well currently I cant access international sites probably because I have reached my cap.

Adsl might be good for networking while iburst stats to be slower when you go over 6 computers for ICS...

I agree with Richard. It all depends on your tower and signal strength. Most on iburst get avarage speeds and can play online with a few problems, then there are some who get better pings online than ADSL (well... not better but close) - D/l at 115kb/s and up.

So get someone out to your house and check the signal. and deside for your self.

Hope it works for you (Anything is cheaper that Telscum)

it seems iBurst is a real Jekyl and Hyde depending on the user. My experience with it is generally very good.

The issues I have are more the general SA broadband situation.

well I can safely say Iburst in hyde park sux balls...

it keeps - what I assume switching between the two Rosebank/Sandton towers :( so unless I decide to pull a mcgyver move and place my modem in some odd places it's giving me crap :(

otherwise when it is running it's uber fast :D

Youre in Cape Town right photonman, iburst aint bad down here.. which tower would you connect to? Its fine as long as you arent too bad with not being able to game, except for a bit of local given you got a alright connection.

photonman, iBurst is good, if u can get good (100%) signal, and you aren't too critical in terms of latency. Skype does work pretty decently, so that is nice. Games i have tried a few times internationally, but never worked for me. at the end of the day u gotta decide for yourself.

Opps torrents will need to go through a proxy / Torrent-box(if it ever gets back too working). MMORG games are ok, otherwise with fps be prepared to die often!!!

Where about do you live, or which tower will you connect to? Plumbstead and newlands towers are great, i'm pretty shure kenilworth will be too. The proxy works great on Iburst though so it's not much of a problem (openweb proxy)
Like I said, you will be able to game local with an alright connection.

I've got a laptop + iburst laptop modem and it's the greatest thing on earth to have mobile broadband internet - I simply pick up my laptop at home and continue at work (I just need to buy another charger for work!). Even if I go for business down to Cape Town, I'm always connected. How cool is that?

But, if you're into online gaming, ADSL will be a better choice.

I guess it depends on what you use your internet connection for...
