I ordered my N95 like 2 weeks ago from italk and im still waiting!!! im really starting to get impatient.....not to mention a bit worried!! ...An italk rep called me and asked if i want a phone with "similar features" as they dont have enough stock to keep up with the demand....they wanted to change my order from a N95 to some HTC cell!!! Hopefully i should get it some time this week "fingers crossed" ..BTW does anyone use Edge ?? i know HSDPA and
3G arnt available on Cell C...so hows the speed on EDGE ??? Is it much faster then GPRS?? Oh and if i use my N95 instead of my E220 HSDPA modem to connect to the net on my pc, will there be no diffrence whatsoever in speed ,etc ?

I got mine from Italk last week. Think I waited about two weeks from ordering, but they did say they were waiting for more stock.

One thing to watch for when you do get it: Mine came with an MTN 3g sim card which did not work with the phone. Some people have N95s working with the 3G sim card but apparently there is an issue. It may be just a bad batch of these sims, I dont know but I had to go back to Italk and get a normal 32k sim card. But check it works.

I guess you have received your phone?

Yippi, I got it on Friday. Couldn’t wait for Bergo Express to deliver it on Monday, so I endured 2 hrs of traffic to fetch it from their warehouse.

GPS:

I upgraded the GPS software for a 7 day trial to test the voice command. Impressively, it locked into the GPS with ease and the software has my complex’s name. Compared to my 20K iDrive SatNav System, it’s not bad. I’m sure Route66 is better software. KEWL

Symbian:

Spent most of Sat and Sun downloading symbian software. Last time I used symbian was my 6680 and things have changed since. I cannot stand this process of signing software through “symbiansigned.com”.

I'm playing with the phone so much that the battery dies in less than 1/2 day......

You get a free 7 Day Trial? WTF? Me goes and rushes to his N95

You just changed that from 2 Hours :) Mine was 2 hours so i thought that was rather accurate. A half a day is impressive with constant usage of its features.

I felt embarrassed by 2hrs and changed it to 1/2 day. In reality, I'm addicted and it dies in two hrs.:p

Sorry Mr.G. I forgot to mention the trial is for a minimum amount, less than $10. N95 excitement I guess. Got to go back to work now, Oh, i mean work on the N95.:D

Here's the 'fix' I got from Supercall .... I'm on MTN and use a 128K USIM .... it worked for me.

Some Notification from MTN in-light of the USIM Problem

"With reference to a communiqué that was sent out on the 30th of May 2007, regarding Nokia N95 with latest SW Version 11.0.026 and USIM (3G SIMs), we have establish a temporary work- around to resolving the incompatibility issue

We emphasize that this work- around is pertaining to N95 with SW 11.0.026 ONLY, and its temporary until the permanent fix has been found.

The work around solution is activating a PIN on the USIM, Please follow these steps;

1. Take the USIM that is not working in N95, and put in any handset that works

2. Set the PIN code request to active, by default the PIN code is 00000

3. After PIN code is enabled, then insert that USIM in N95, it will ask for PIN code, 00000

4. The phone then logs on to the network, you can change the PIN code to your own desired PIN for security reasons.

5. DO NOT DISABLE THE PIN CODE, if you do that the phone can no longer log on to the network, when you re-boot phone."
