Hi.

We've recently purchased a property with a prepaid meter.

Today I purchased a R150 recharge voucher on FNB's site using the 11-digit meter number and I received a message that the transaction is "In Progress".

When I look at my transaction history, the amount hasn't gone off yet and I haven't been home yet to check the meter to see whether the remaining units have increased.

How long does it usually take for a recharge to become active?

Thx.

I don't know how FNB works, but when I had a pre-paid meter I would buy units at PnP or online, get a pin and punch it into my meter.

Then it loads the units. Never saw any kind of system that magically updated the meter with more units.

Perhaps it is a good time to give them a call.

Also, buy units at the beginning of the month. If you buy more than you need in a month, it'll cost more (they have a scaling thing, don't ask).

I found spending more than R400 on pre-paid is where you returns started to diminish very quickly with regards to how many kWH you get.

It's not automatic.
Log into online banking, go to prepaid elec and look for the purchase history tab. Find your purchase and you'll see the voucher number.
In future use the fnb app. It shows your token immediately.
