This is total BS. If you order from UK (Royal mail), Aus or the US, it 3 months at least. The irony is that if you order from Romania/Slovakia/Poland (That go through the UK) , it takes two weeks. From being released post customs at JIMC, it takes another two weeks to get to your local hub, and then another week to get to your local PO.

I suspect that most online sales are from South African based online retailers like Takealot, Spree, etc.

My wife started online shopping for the first time last month and is looking to buy almost every day. Everything she looks at are from local online stores with delivery in less than 5 days. I don't think she'll look at buying from overseas suppliers.

Amazon US once took 3 days to deliver to my door. The longest that I have waited was 2 weeks, and that was shipped by Aramex. I never had hold-ups with UPS, DHL or FedEx. China, however, shipped me a prize which took 4 weeks, using a Chinese shipper, but it was here in Cape Town by the 2nd week, SAPO took 2 weeks to give me notice, but I had it cleared in no time.

My experience of stuff that gets delivered from overseas via the SA Post Office is 3 to 6 months.

Or does not arrive at all.

Yes, the courier deliveries are much faster, I have just received a parcel from Amazon that took 5 days via Aramex.

Local courier deliveries are also quite fast.

Myabe for you, but I ordered from Royal Mail twice this year (Feb & Sept), and in both instances the products arrived in about 3-4 weeks via registered SAPO.

Lucky you, I must say this was when SAPO had the backlog , I do believe this has been cleared now.

Nowhere does it mention international orders...

Locally I only use Courier or Postnet, both seem to work.

I NEVER use SAPO for local deliveries, just don't trust them, my ordinary mail is months behind.
