How long did you guys have to wait for installation after your ADSL-order?

I hope it's not too long - I am starting to suffer from internet withdrawal symptoms.

It was about 3 weeks from date of order at telkom.

All that Telkom did was configure the exchange for ADSL on an existing line that I had and then visited me to say that it was done.

I had just bought a Netgear DG834 Router and just plugged it in. Then, I realised I needed a logon from an ISP to get it working. Getting a new Telkom ISP account for ADSL can only happen once they have completed the paper work stating that your ADSL installation is complete. I couldn't wait a few days for that so I upgraded my mweb account. They offer 3Gig,6Gig and 9Gig caps.

I was up and running, after sorting out the ISP account, within 1 hour.

I assume they also came to install the necessary line filters and so on ?

No, they actually did F..k A.l (Excuse the expression) I had my own ADSL modem/router that I had to connect. Sort out an ISP and then I was on my way.

Should I pay them?!?

13 days!

Put the order in, Telkom showed up 3 days later to do a 'conformance test'. 9 Days later i phoned telkom for an update. They told me installation was either that afternoon or the next day. Next day it was.

Gotta say i was impressed, after reading everything over here...

Kudos to Telkom, Mossel Bay...

Conformance test on Friday afternoon and installation the following Monday morning.

The difficulty seems to be in getting the order put through Telkom's system.

Oh, did I mention that I paid an advanced deposit of the full installation and one month in advance? I neglected to pay the deposit (on ordinary phone installation) once while I was still in University and they just ignored me. Never bothered to tell me that needed to pay deposit.

As it turned out I did not have to pay the deposit, but I think it made my account stand out from the rest when I applied for ADSL...

I don't know if it did or whether I was just lucky but there it is anyway.

(I got my deposit back... [:D])
