DStv parent MultiChoice stated that it believes Netflix has grown to between 300,000 and 400,000 subscribers in South Africa.

“That’s a significant number in two and a half years,” MultiChoice South Africa CEO Calvo Mawela told MyBroadband.

Much like MonoChoice's inflated pricing, it is no surprise that MonoChoice is trying to float a severely inflated guesstimate of a competitor's subscriber numbers, especially when compared to the other guesstimate:

Statistics portal Statista has also previously given estimates on Netflix subscribers in South Africa.

It estimates that, in 2018, Netflix has just over 152,000 subscribers in the country.

Was listening to Ton Vosloo. Interesting how Naspers only chase after the big money spinners. In the 90's the choice was between MC and MTN. They offloaded MTN not knowing what cellular networks would become. Now that MC is starting to become a burden they're selling it as well. Wonder what will happen with Takealot.

The following quote from the article appears to be MonoChoice whining about unsubstantiated Netflix subscriber numbers that MonoChoice pulled out of its own arse:

“That’s a significant number in two and a half years,” MultiChoice South Africa CEO Calvo Mawela told MyBroadband.
