Well, Observatory in Cape Town might be a bit of a white squatter camp, but I seem to find myself employed still...

Do you think "400,000 white South Africans live in poverty, with more than 80 squatter camps around Pretoria alone" is true too?
Nope. Most of the articles BT regurgitates is someone else's opinion with facts they pulled out of their arses. White squatters camps and poverty are a reality in the New (Improved) South Africa, but 80 camps around PTA alone is a bit of a stretch.

An extract from their mission statement.

02. Due to the over 119 race based laws prohibiting White South Africans from employment more and more families find themselves in crisis. These are NOT people who planned living on the streets! These are NOT folks who are lazy and uneducated! These are ordinary middle class, mostly blue collar workers who have lost their jobs because of the Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment LAW!!

These guys are seriously delusional, no wonder they see so many white squatter camps in SA.

A bit OTT, agreed.

While BEE/AA IS making it harder for whites to make their way in SA - note, I'm not talking about people who are in their late 20's/30's, I'm talking about school/university leavers - I don't think it's a direct cause of white squatter camps. More likely the number of white families falling on hard times without a support system to bail them out/assist them, is on the rise.

What needs to be understood is that not every single white person in SA lives in a palatial suburban home and drives a luxury German sedan, as apposed to the bull**** the ANC has been feeding it's supporters for years. The majority are in fact probably lower middle-class and just getting by every month, living from pay cheque to pay cheque. When you live at that level any unforseen illness without medical aide to pay the bills, a sole breadwinner being retrenched, or something simple such as a car breaking down could leave you destitute and unable to pull your way back if you don't have someone to give a hand. A lot of people at that level, like people higher up, also have a lot of debt - home loans (if they're lucky), car payments, etc. Creditors give zero ****s when you fall on hard times. If you're unable to pay back, they just repossess. In the case of a home loan, that means living on the street, or moving to a squatter camp.

It would be very interesting to hear from the others how they found themselves In this situation. This one story is not too convincing...

Sitting in a deck chair at a white South African squatter camp, Ann le Roux (60) holds a yellowing photo from her daughter’s wedding day.

Taken not long after Nelson Mandela became the country’s first black president in 1994, it shows Le Roux standing with her Afrikaans husband and their daughter outside their home in Melville, an upmarket Johannesburg neighbourhood.

Sixteen years later, she lives in a caravan and a tent shared with seven other people, including her daughter and four grandchildren, at a squatter camp for poor white South Africans.

She is one of a growing number of whites living below the poverty line in South Africa who blame affirmative action and the ANC-led elected government for their plight.

Le Roux had to sell her house after her husband died and she lost her job as a secretary at the city planning council—where she had worked for 26 years—after she took time off work to recover from the loss of her husband.

“They wouldn’t take me back because of the political situation,” she says, looking down at the fading photo.

Always wondered about these.

I could live like Zuma if I was to stay in such a place. Damn, bond... I would live like a KING!
However, doubt I'll survive staying between the desperate and destitute though.

She's not sharing everything, that's for sure. I hate people that feel sorry for themselves and blaming other people for their circumstances.

There are quite a few homeless white people living around Booysens.

Not sure where all of them live but several put up a tent in the evening and take it down again the next morning.

Doubt those would be termed squatters as they are rather mobile.
