Don't think it would be too easy to get it the reasons being as follows:

1. A lot of players don't participate on south african forums
2. The servers players play on are split (US/UK)
3. When it first started a lot of players entered false addresses on their account details
4. Blizzard isn't going to provide the information
5. Even if you ask all the South African guilds for their member numbers there are a lot of saffers who just don't care to join these guilds.

Errr...wouldn't say "don't care". I'm in a non-SA guild. Mixed will people from all over Europe, China and South Africa. Its more fun this way :D

thats a rough estimation as most guys would want to upgrade electronically as quick as possible. but yea. 10000+ seems about right.

cool thanks guys...

another question... what's the appeal in playing on a UK/US server? Surely there are more than enough people to play locally?

*apologies if this is dumb question :) WoW uber noob.

Blizzard haven't rolled out a SA server yet or will never roll out a server here. So the reason we play on US/EU servers, is that there is no other place to play right now.

ah... and we can't petition for something like this?

From what I've been reading, Lag seems to be a bit of a ball ache.

Maybe look at it from Blizzards POV and ask: How much would it cost to host a local server?

Any of you IT pros in the biz here be able to do some thumbsucking and give us a break down?

It would be legend if we could get a local server going. I wish there was some way to get Blizzard's attention.

Most of the well populated (read: "full") servers have populations of over 10 000 players. Even if all the South African players agreed to move on to the South African server, (assuming that they would, which I strongly doubt, and assuming that Blizzard would deign to notice us and give us a server of our own), I still don't see Blizzard creating a server for us. I don't think our numbers justify it. Plus, where would they create it: on US or EU realms?

We don't really have a big MMORPG culture, and for me, that's evidenced by the fact that RAGE didn't even have a simple display regarding the WotLK release of WoW despite the fact that it was held in October, and Wrath was released in November.

So, sadly, we don't get our own server. I just wish Blizzard would allow transfers from the US realms to the EU realms. Really don't see why this isn't possible. The latency is better, and the fact that the timezone is closer to ours means less raiding at 4 am in the morning.

Yet there are only 12million subscribers in WoW... Care to explain why this confuses me?

Or a sauce would be nice

Duh - obviously every subscriber has 20 level 80's. One of each class on both factions.
"Hmmm.. What shall I play today?"

Heh every single subscriber would need to have around 16-17 lvl 80 toons to make up the 200 000 000 mentioned.
I have 7 lvl 70+ toons, including 3 lvl 80's, the most of anyone I know that plays, which causes people look at me funny when I mention it, and ask when do I sleep / eat / work / have sex / etc.
Also, given you can only have 10 toons per server per subscription I'm sure you can see what the likelyhood of every single subscriber having that many lvl 80 toons is.

20 million lvl 80 toons? Maybe, also not all that likely, but maybe. Certainly not 200 million though :p
