How much does it cost to get a gun license

Currently busy with open book exams for competency, and will write closed book exams next week. Any pointers on the closed book exams?
The stuff that My_King mentioned

Learn the stuff that has sequential order (+ their sequence)
Learn point 10 - 12 of the Bill of rights: https://www.justice.gov.za/constitution/SAConstitution-web-eng-02.pdf

Anatomy of a pew and a pewer (aka handgun, shotgun, rifle depending on what you are certifying for)

Seems the most expensive part of this whole shabang is paying the guy to do the motivations. It's not so much per one, but I've got 14 to do.

fokit, eina. And you don't have the original motivations that were submitted? I've seen it recommended to state circumstances remain unchanged along with reattaching the original motivation.

I haven't applied for these yet, they're inherited from a deceased estate.

Oh, okay. I wanna say congrats but also condolences, and good luck -if that's not uncalled for.
Thanks. I appreciate that. Death is almost two years ago, so the initial mourning is over. Been postponing dealing with the firearms as I just wasn't up to the admin, but it is time now. Motivations guy reckons it shouldn't be any issue. Let's hope he's as good as he says he is.

So the new minister seems to be worse than the twat in the hat? For gun owners

3 months 3 days for me, now I feel privileged.
They said to me the cards are now coming but there is a big backlog capturing applications now. Seems it will always be some muck in that rubbish pipeline. :(

Something is not right at CFR at the moment. Or I just got unlucky.

My friend applied in April for his S13 renewal, and it got approved in something like 3 weeks from the date of handing it in. Super fast.

I applied in May, and still no real movement. It's been stuck 'In Progress' for almost 2 months now.

This is South Africa btw...

You can politely ask the Shift Supervisor or Detectives at your local police station to expedite a Sport and Hunting License for you.

Got mine in no time with nary a hassle.

The Shift Supervisor and Detective have nothing to do with your firearm application, only the DFO, and the members working in that Office would be able to assist with an enquiry, they cannot expedite your license as you claim when your application leaves your local DFO (Police Station) it still has a lot of stages to go through, finally after that it reaches the CFR which reviews your application.
There are also no sport or hunting licenses, there are sections S13, S15, and S16, to name a few.
