How much it costs to insure your smartphone in South Africa

Buying a new smartphone can be expensive, especially if you are aiming for a high-end device like the Apple iPhone Xs Max.

For this reason, many smartphone buyers opt to pay a monthly premium for insurance on their device, protecting them from suffering costly repairs and replacements.

My S9+ is comprehensively insured by my insurance company alongside all my other items under the same policy and it works out to be about R12 pm for the phone. Wireless operators are an evil necessity we can't do without, but they are are also highly skilled and talented con artists, extremely capable of operating a highly profitable and legal scam.

How about getting quotes from actual insurance companies instead of the very same people who sold the device in the first place.

Rates will be infinitely better.

Yeah no...

My insurance company costs less for All Risks, my P20 Lite costs way less per month to insure than any of those quotes from the Cellphone companies.
