How much it costs to use WhatsApp in SA

WhatsApp is the first app installed and opened on many new smartphones in South Africa, as it has quickly become the primary means of communication in the country.

Like all other data-based messaging applications, WhatsApp offers a cheaper and more feature-rich way to send messages to other people or even call them over a data connection.

What doesn't seem to be taken into account is that the person receiving the WhatsApp call or message also uses data.
I think it is very bad manners to use another persons data without their permission

Ja. Watsop is not free! My familie kills off our monthly data very quickly with all the photos they want to send to ouma and oupa!
I had to step in and stop them by getting only one of them to send pics and only to me or my wife not to both.

Watsop not free, but much cheaper than SMS (50c each) and Cell-Call (R1.50/min)

Don't answer if you can't afford it.
