How much SAA employees will get if the airline is shut down

The Department of Public Enterprises (DPE) has warned South African Airways (SAA) labour unions and creditors against voting for the liquidation of the company, stating that the impact of such as decision would be devastating.

“The DPE would like to caution SAA employees, labour unions, and creditors that liquidation – the process of winding down the airline and disposing of its assets, will lead to financial hardship for employees and substantial undervaluation of assets,” the department said in a statement.

“All SAA stakeholders who are in a position to either support or reject a business rescue plan for SAA should realise that business rescue provides a better outcome than liquidation and should be supported for their collective interests.”

The ANC have a political imperative that will not let any SOE survive. There is no chance. If they were really going to restructure SAA they would have done it years ago.

I can't imagine how difficult it will be for those impacted. However, the employees contributed to this and refused to see the writing on the wall. The final nail was when they went on strike for more money, when they should have been content to have jobs. The strike caused complete loss of confidence, and when it ended they didn't recover, then COVID came.

It is about time labour unions, leaders and members get their heads out of the sand and realise they should be part of the solution than part of the problem.

not nice to be working at SAA at this point in time, all the bailouts in the world wouldn't float that boat.

sad really, how much was spent could have easily done so much more.
