Sounds about right. I used to pay a R27k instalment for my X5 M series per month.

It's parked off permanently in the garage at the estate now. Looks great as a showpiece.

And if you are a responsible human being, that amount should be no more than 1/4 your take-home salary.

So you should ideally earn a nett of around R125k a month but I do wonder what % of buyers will finance vs outright purchasing.

Actually a financed vehicle actually makes sense for alot of people, especially people who treat it as a depreciating short term item that keeps changing. And wealther people pay much better interest so its almost negligable.

The only truth to take away from your statement is that the type of individual who can afford and maintain a new R1.7m car will not ask you for financial advice.
