How Old Is Your Car? And What Is The Mileage?

I've written much (perhaps too much) singing my praises about the Swift on this forum.

It was bought as a city run around. Very soon after I took delivery I decided to take it on a long trip (900km odd) to run it in.
The little tjorrie impressed me so that it now used for that trip which we do about every six weeks. All I had to do was to convince SO to pack as if she was catching a plane in terms of luggage volume.

It will be going for its second service (24 months) next month. Since acquisition it has only seen the dealership's workshop for its 12 month service; no little hassles or niggles whatsoever.

On the open road I keep the engine at 4000rpm which is about 140km/h in 5th gear. I sort of behave in town because i'm not going to get anywhere fast and the spietkops are everywhere with their lasers.

The fuel consumption to date is 6,58l/100km.

The only negative that I have are the tyres that are fitted. These are 165/80R14 and they are very, very scarce. To this end I've already bought 15" rims so that I can fit 185/65R15 tyres. This won't change the gearing at all. I might even go to 195/65R15.
I'm sold, my next car will most definitely be a Suzuki Swift, provided I don't get convinced to buy another car. I wanted a Toyota Etios as my next car, but fellow MyBBs told me that it's a crappy car.

Don't fall for their conspiracy!

All you people planning to drive till the wheels fall off... You know a little preventative maintenance on bearings and bushes will stop that happening, right?

Not to mention one can redo a head at around 200k kms if neccesary. Must say, modern cars rust well, mines 10 years and not a speck.
