The man who stopped e-tolls

Wayne Duvenage is the co-founder and chief executive officer of the Organisation Undoing Tax Abuse (Outa), the civil action group largely responsible for the failure of the controversial e-toll system in Gauteng.

Duvenage was born in Harare, Zimbabwe, in 1960. However, he has almost no recollection of the country as his parents left for South Africa when he was five years old.

I am more impressed at how they were able to re-use their acronym name for another "cause"

Opposition to Urban Tolling Alliance and then Organisation Undoing Tax Abuse

Err... it was more those of us refusing to use and pay for it that made it collapse. OUTA had little (any?) success in the matter.
Man there used to be a user called House, he was a staunch advocate for the E-tolls :-(.

Outa is one part of the puzzle, unfortunately their job isnt done with Etolls,
as you still have to pay for old Etolls receipts, I think mine is up to 42K, but I know some people here have truly scary etoll receipts.

Yes and no,

They got a lot of media coverage, mybb included.

I think they helped galvanise the idea of not paying and forcing government to take everyone to court. The fact that they publicly stated they would help defend the first cases, also helped in the decision for many not to pay.

South Africa is going to pay for it big time. Kapsch is preparing to sue the SA government for its losses.

Wayne is not doing to bad with his stuff. He is after the books of SANRAL, specifically the N3 private toll concession.

A loan was take out for the N3 private toll concession R 890 million over 30 years. After 7 years there was enough money to pay off the loan and guess what.....money was invested in Equity, the value was tripped and poof it was gone.

Wayne went to court to get the books and the court said "No its private" I recon it's more got to do that the recipient is most probably still active in political activities. Wayne is Appealing the outcome.
