Next time you pick up a menu at a restaurant do yourself a favour and block out the two most expensive items. Suddenly the prices seem way more expensive than they were when the more expensive "hooks" were there.

PNP is the worst with the specials.
I often see regular priced items at isle end displays dressed up to look like it's a 'special'. Fortunately I shop weekly so I have a very good feel for the items I regularly buy across all the chains.

Noticed the exact same thing at Checkers...

Yup.. it's like when i was overseas and everything was said to be on massive sales.. like 40-60% off but the prices were insane.

I see PnP like dressing up specials without calling it specials (<-- i think they get nailed for this).. so u will see inverted sales colours without the word 'sale' or similar colour highlighting savings.. but again no guarantee that its really a low price sale. Essentially.. unless u know the value of the item, you will be fleec'd as they use a lot of psychological triggers.

Yep, I notice this every single time I go shopping. I go shopping as I need stuff, so I know pretty much what to expect something to cost.

Have you ever seen the biggest consumer scam? Just take a look at data providers launching an ad with the words 'Unlimited Data' and see 1,000 South African idiots signing contracts in the first 5 minutes....
