I will say, at least we don't have those 'market adjustment' costs that the USA seems to have on their new models.

I saw one dealer on Reddit add $5k to a Toyota RAV4 - R77'000 just because of demand at the moment. Another was a G-wagen that was listed for $183k, and ended up having another $150k tacked on. R2.3m added on, just due to market demand. It's mental.

I think it must be a nice time to be a car salesman in the states.

I wonder if they are comparing vehicles like for like?

Take the Polo for example - it starts with 1.0 naturally aspirated engine in Europe. In South Africa our entry level is a 1.0 TSI. This might account for the higher price locally.
