If you think crime is not an issue in "safer" countries then you are going to be heartbroken. Go look at the majority of blue states in the US. EU has tons of ghettos/no go zones - even cops refuse to go near them. Yet the limp wristed socialist will continue to disarm the poorer communities of all security rights. Hell, there are ton of places in the EU look far worse than the average Cape Town suburb.

I recently noticed my local security company sporting 6 Riot-Control vehicles, basically hardened Ford Raptors with fencing on the windows etc.

Communities who can, are taking the necessary precautions - I hardly ever see Police patrolling our streets
