How South Africa's GDP per capita has dropped since 1990

Because they aren't "breeding like rabbits" mate. Our fertility rate is pretty low for an African country, but good job on saying what the people at the braai fire think is the absolute truth.
So compared to other countries with populations exploding, we're doing okay?

Dude, Africa has an average age of 18. We sit with a population growth of 1.4% vs 0.6% of the UK. We have an excess of people who cannot contribute to the economy, and thus GDP, because there simply isn't opportunity for them to - there isn't space in the formal employment sector. If we suddenly lost 5% of the population (across the board, though obviously those least equipped to contribute to the economy would be best), we would be far better off as a country.

It's not, we have a fairly low life expectancy.

Fairly in-depth studies have been done on microeconomies that remain undocumented in SA. I was actually lectured by the guy doing it... What you are saying is really false.

So unemployment isn't an issue because micro economies. We shouldn't care about official GDP stats because micro economies. Great.

How about this. I stated some stats. You said it's wrong with nothing to back it up. How about you change that?
Seems like that would be more constructive than getting butthurt over my implication that people should stop creampie-ing their sidechicks.

It is because of this reasoning that we are in trouble...

What we are saying is that our population growth is to high compare to our GDP growth.

Ffs people are ignorant.
In context, this is the funniest statement today.

Africa produces almost nothing of value outside of cheap resources which the developed world transforms into consumer goods which we then consume, on credit, at a disproportional rate.

Our economy is not geared to grow beyond basic. Our infrastructure, politics and education are committed to maintaining this state of affairs.

Our population has exploded far in excess of the economy's ability to employ, leading to a rapidly shrinking tax base in inverse proportion to the demand on social services.

Thus our GDP, unemployment and future are all in the shiater.

The fact that you are ignorant of all of this whilst bleating about how everyone else must be ignorant says an alarming amount about your degree of knowledge on the subject matter.

Please note I haven't even started referencing the slew of rigorous studies proving the positive outcomes for single child families and how this translates into future success for the child.

Maybe take your feelings for a stroll. They need some fresh air.

In simple terms, it means that South Africans are getting poorer when compared to their global counterparts.

anc disagreed....

“Unless if you’re saying that by putting black people into positions, you’re reducing productivity for companies, that evidence is not there. We do not think that it will affect business.

“It is how you run your company that affects your business. This notion that black people mean incompetency is not correct.”

It also doesn't help that we have an unemployment rate of close to 40% and some people who are impoverished just continue to push out offspring like it's our national sport

Government is to blame for this. If child support grants were more limited and restricted to just 1 or 2 children then we wouldn't see such high birth rates. I have personally seen women who choose more children because it means more money to them.

Any growth now in population, and I mean any, fsking 1 child, is a detriment to this country. The whole Africa is starving, literally.

This country can barely feed itself already.

Ridiculous take. You realise someone existing isn't a net loss economically?

It is if they provide/produce nothing, like the 40% we have loafing, never mind all the healthcare and grants they receive.

Regardless of what argument you try to make, the point stand that not only do we stand to benefit from a slow down in populace growth, we stand to be much better off if we halved our size in the next 100 years before expanding again.

Mate, calling someone a halfwit when you are posting bucketloads of ignorant shite is really funny tbh. As I said, terrible takes from Boomerville

Imagine if you knew something about the topics you are so prejudicial and passionate about?
Imagine you responding with something more than "muh lecturer..." and derision?

Literally every thread on this forum turns into one of the following:
  1. Black people are compared to rabbits, useless breeders, welfare queens etc.
  2. Nothing good has happened in SA since '94
  3. The population should be smaller (for a certain population group - take a wild guess).
  4. Graphs, taken out of context by the "facts don't care about your feelings" crowd, are used to push one of the above.
These guys are so culturally irrelevant that a forum is the only place to vomit out their stupid hot takes in safety. It's literally an uneducated racist safe space
You embody everything that is wrong with SA and explains exactly the trajectory we find ourselves on, so you are either ****ing stupid or a connected cadre. What are you?
