Vodacom participate in this forum, not to act as an official support channel but to give feedback, comments, answers, etc. on various issues and to give forumites a near real-time ability to interact with Vodacom in a more informal manner. Formal support channels exist and these should be used.

However, if you really battle with 155, have already got call ticket numbers, etc. but feel you're not getting anywhere after trying, feel free to let me know and I'll see if I can help.

In such a case, I'm here to help. But if you've not already made contact with the formal support structures, please do not use myADSL as first-line support. Vodacom's got thousands of people ready to do first-line support and we cannot duplicate it here. It's really not why I'm here.

But I cannot respond to PM's with inadequate information. If you want me to help you, absolutely no problem. But if I don't get full details I don't send the PM through.

I'm not being hard-assed about this, but really have given up on trying to chase down info that should have been in the PM in the first place.

I often ask you guys to PM me with your details and mostly get very limited information. This makes it very difficult for me to help. I cannot log a call if I only know you as 'pietpompies' on the forum with a location like "in my mind"

There are a number of ways to get support:

1) Call (082)155
2) Mail Customer Care on customercare@vodacom.co.za
3) Read the FAQ in this forum.
4) Use the SelfHelp facility.
5) Search this form, chances are, your question have been answered many times before.

If you tried the above and still battle and feel you need to to PM me, please include as much detail as possible, including.

1) Your first name
2) Your last name
3) Contact tel. number
4) E-mail addr.
5) Area you're in
6) Physical address, if relevant
7) Cell number under discussion
8) Full description of the problem, including any info you already posted in the forum itself. There is no easy way to tie the info together and I cannot search the forum to try and link various posts together.
8a) The APN your using
8b) Contract type (pre-paid, contract, hybrid)
8c) Bundle type & size
9) Anything else you can think of, history, etc.

I often get involved in a thread and then ask the relevant forumite to PM me details. Often I just get a cell number in the PM. Now I must search for all posts by that forumite, copy and paste it all together, edit it to make sense, PM back asking for more details, edit that, etc. Only now can I forward a mail.

So, basically write me a PM as if you're describing the problem for the first time and in such a way I can just copy and paste it and it'll save us all a huge amount of time.

What can I help with?

1) Typically anything to do with broadband and the services around it, such as the mail relays, etc.
2) Vodacom policies, viewpoints, etc.

What do I battle to help with?

1) Billing queries
2) Cell phones questions, etc.

111 is always the official point of contact for these type of problems, while 155 was set up to handle all data related queries.

Please use the template above and add as much info as you can. Write the PM as if you've never explained the problem before and re-read it to make sure someone who's never heard of your problem will understand it. If you've posted relevant info on the forum, include it in the PM. It does not help to refer to the forum as I then need to go and search for what you posted and try and build up a coherent picture for the mail. I've given up on doing this.

Write it as if you're logging it on the call-desk e-mail system (which you should have done already, in any case).

Then PM it to me.

So, basically:

- First try the normal support channels.
- If that does not work, write a complete mail (with all info above) to customercare@vodacom.co.za
- If you don't get a decent response after 48 hours, PM me the mail-trail.

Thanks, fixed it...typed the first post while sitting on a plane, so it was a point and shoot affair....

Probably 90% of the time, I get a PM with no details but a question such as:

"I can't connect. Can you help?, Thanks, Bollox"

Because I can't address the query on first-pass, it tends to stay in the inbox and eventually disappears in the clutter.

So rather tell me your whole life story. I'm a good listener.....

Hi

I have sort of a desperate question. Have posted a thread to this forum and afterwards notice this one from you. I've just PM you with all the questions etc. It is the one about vodamail and ipaq's. If you are not the right person to answer my question I will appreciate any recommendation from your side and to who to contact.

Thanks again.

V3G helpee

Thanks to you, V3G, I am writing this using my Nokia 6680 as a modem - you advised me in December last year via this forum that this was the best option for me when I realised my computer (Siemans Amilo M) had an express slot and not a PCMIA slot so could not use the standard Vodacom adapter card. And then when I was having hassles with the dealer who would not take the card back, you acted directly from "head office" to sort it out, and phoned me to give me the news personally. I was very grateful indeed for this forum in the first place, and for your quick, efficient and friendly service in the second place. Thank you once again for your assistance - you are a credit to Vodacom.

I applied for ADSL about 3 years ago (1000+ days and counting..). Every now and them I get a call from Telkom claiming it's now available and when I try to order, nothing happens....

V3g,

It's 11 0'clock. Are you paid by the hour, or are you are three-person shift? :D

Just wonderin', thanks for the effort you put in here.

Hi

Not sure why so many have a problem with 111, and now with call back it is so easy
I have mostly had good help and response when logging a call

My 2 cents worth
