I live far from the tunnel. Ceres, but when we do go to Cape Town once a month we go over the pass, it is only 11km longer and much more beautiful than a boring stinky dark tunnel
Not to mention that (depending on the car and traffic conditions) you can coast in gear all the way from the top of Dutoitskloof to the end of the pass heading toward Cape Town, without using any fuel.

So the SABRIC statement is not entirely correct? You are correct because my SA card was used to buy car spares -- and KFC! --- in the US. BTW this is not the first time that SABRIC has made soothing statements about how safe bank cards are. They really should stop the spin. And journalists should query SABRIC's claims in the future.

Just use e-tag. More convenient, especially on long journeys with heavy traffic.
